About Me
I am a special effects artist, graduated from Tom Savini’s Special effects and makeup program at Douglas Education Center, and making props is what I enjoy the most. The fascination towards props started years ago when I built a scythe out of cardboard for Halloween. I liked the fact that i could create something i can hold and wield since i’ve mostly been a 2d artist with drawings and paintings.
When the time came in school for the semester with the props class I was ecstatic, I was in a place where we were allowed to create absolutely anything. One of the most complex projects I made wasn’t even for a grade, I made it for a gift. And that gift was making a helmet from Warhamer40k for my boyfriend. I had also decided to make him the Highland Shield from Legend of Zelda and turned that into a fully working shield. Now I was in a bit of a crunch for time but I still took time and a lot of effort into the details, and looking back on it now I see things I can do differently, but at the same time this was the first helmet I have ever made.
My Teachers had informed me that making a helmet such as this doesn’t happen a lot, and it has been years since someone made a helmet and even longer sine one of similar quality to mine. I try not to let things get to my head but at the same time I need to appreciate my own work and give myself more credit. My props teacher specifically said that I should sell these online, and that people would be interested in them, so that’s what I set out to do. Being able to create what I enjoy the most and letting it grow into something amazing in the future!
